Solo ads are one of the most effective ways to build your downline. They’re also an easy way to make money since you don’t have to do any work except create the ad and send it out. But what makes for a successful solo ad?

And how can you get more customers through your door with this advertising technique? Here are eight simple steps that will start you on the path towards writing successful solo ads.

Table of Content

  • Choose the right product in Solo Ads
    • Keep it short – and sweet!
      • Avoid hype, but don’t be boring either!
      • Use a strong call-to-action (CTA)
      • Have some offer or giveaway
      • Find your niche
      • Always follow up
      • Treat each person as if they were one of your friends
      • Some additional points:
      • Final Thoughts:

Choose the right product in Solo Ads

Of course, this is a pretty important step. Make sure the product you choose interests you and will be of value to your customers. In other words, don’t promote a weight loss product if losing weight isn’t something that matters to you or your target market.

You can always test out different types of products to find the one(s) that work for you. But when choosing a product to promote, make sure it’s something you believe in – not just financially – but personally too!

Keep it short – and sweet!

Nobody wants to read a novel-length sales letter. If people wanted an endless stream of information with no clear direction as to what they’re supposed to do next, they’d go on Facebook or watch TV. It would help if you kept your solo ads as short as possible while still covering all the essential points.

For some people, this means writing long-form text ads; for others, it may mean creating a video ad or recording an audio file and sending that out instead. Experiment and see what works best for you!

Avoid hype, but don’t be boring either!

Like any other form of advertising, Solo ads should always paint a picture of what life will be like if the customer chooses to take action now (i.e., sign up under you).

They don’t have to talk about how great the product is, but they do need to show how joining your team/signing up under your affiliate link will eventually result in the customer achieving their desired goal. Here are some examples of these “life after” statements/images you could use:

What this means for you is that it’s essential to be both interesting and informative, but not exaggerate or make stuff up. Be sure always to include all the pertinent information – like how much it costs, what fits in each package, shipping dates, etc. – but try to keep your ad to the point and leave out any unnecessary filler words and phrases.

Use a strong call-to-action (CTA)

It doesn’t matter how good your solo ad looks; if you don’t tell people exactly what to do next, they’re not going to know what to do. Make sure your CTA tells people precisely what you want them to do – i.e., click here/sign up under me, etc. – and that it uses in a way that ties in with the rest of your ad.

It should also be clear and concise, so if you have any doubts about what you’re asking people to do…you need to change it!

Have some offer or giveaway

People love getting free stuff, especially when it’s something they know has to value. If you don’t already have an affiliate link or promo code available for use on your solo ads, go ahead and create one. Then, make sure you include it somewhere in your ad (preferably close to the call-to-action), along with a brief explanation of what exactly the offer entails.

Find your niche

Since you’re writing solo ads for one product, it’s essential to narrow down the specific audience you want to reach. For example, if you sell baby products, then target mums/parents-to-be instead of prospective grandparents or childless people in general.

It might seem more difficult at first, but finding a more exclusive target audience will help keep your response rates up and ensure that each customer is more qualified than someone who just picked up your ad randomly while they were browsing the web.

Always follow up

Remember how you only have one chance to make a first impression? It also applies to solo ads. Suppose you want your audience to take action after reading/watching your ad.

In that case, they must receive additional information, either via another ad or an email follow-up. Not only will this help bring in more sales, but the customer will feel like you’re paying attention to their needs instead of just trying to sell them something!

Treat each person as if they were one of your friends

When thinking about who should be receiving your solo ad copy, don’t think about how many people you can send it out to; instead, try to think about what kind of message would resonate with a specific group of people you know personally. After all, they probably already would have acted on it if someone close to them sent them a solo ad!

Some additional points:

Keep your writing style casual and upbeat – don’t be afraid to inject some humor. Remember, you’re selling yourself as much as the product! If you can write suitable solo ads, this will become part of your promotional arsenal…so make sure you practice regularly and share with other marketers once you feel comfortable sending them out.

Using images helps – but remember not to “borrow” from Google Images or any other online source where the photo could have been posted without permission – unless that’s what your content is actually about. If possible, track your responses!

You’ll learn a lot about who’s reading your ad (and why) if you do this. The more people like it and respond to it, the more likely you will receive their custom in the future…so always be on the lookout for ways to make them sound even better next time.

Don’t forget; these tips will help you write solo ads of all kinds – not just affiliate marketing ones. So whether you’re trying to sell products, promote a business opportunity or get someone to sign up as a lead-gen source under you, they will work just as well.

Final Thoughts:

We hope that you’ve found this article to be helpful in your quest for solo advertising success. Now, go out there and start writing!
